Electronic Arts says it made a net loss of USD 1.08 billion during the last financial year, despite a revenue increase of 15 per cent
Despite the loss, EA’s share price rose slightly as analysts had expected the company to take an even bigger hit.
EA made a loss of USD 454 million last year.
“Need For Speed Undercover, FIFA 09, and Madden NFL 09, each managed to sell 5 million”
The publisher stated that 31 of its games sold over a million copies during the last financial year, and three games – Need For Speed Undercover, FIFA 09, and Madden NFL 09 – managed to reach 5 million.
Electronic Arts’ biggest money-spinner was Rock Band, which generated more revenue than any of its other titles.
CEO John Riccitiello claims that despite the economic turmoil, he is fairly confident that the next fiscal year will be “stronger”.
“EA’s strong cost actions in Q4 FY09, together with our investments in our digital service businesses, will set us up for a stronger FY10,” he said.
