Resident Evil 5 has sold 4 million units worldwide, as Capcom announces record growth figures

The news comes as part of Capcom's report on the last financial year (yes, we've lured you into another dull fiscal report story), where the Osaka-based publisher announced its highest sales revenue for three years.

Total revenue increased to ¥91,878 billion (USD 924 million), up 10.6 per cent from last year, while net profits increased 3.3 per cent to ¥8,063 billion (USD 81 million).

“Capcom puts its record growth levels down to the overseas success of Resi 5 and Street Fighter IV”

Capcom puts these good times down to the overseas success of Resi 5 and SF IV, with Ryu and Ken's comeback shifting a healthy 2 million units globally.

"Resident Evil 5 became a mega hit with the first shipment of over 4 million copies worldwide," reads the report. "In addition, Street Fighter IV performed well supported by its familiar brand name and the healthy US and European home videogame markets. These two titles served as the sales growth engine overseas."

Capcom is now confidently predicting even more growth for the next year, forecasting total revenue of ¥95,000 billion (USD 956 million).

Capcom 1. Global economic meltdown 0.
